Kendal is a charming market town and one of the larger settlements in Cumbria. It is often described as “the gateway to the Lake District” but is well worth a visit in its own right. Kendal is home to the famous Kendal Mint Cake and is overlooked by the imposing remains of a 12th Century castle. Other highlights of Kendal include the 1657 chocolate house, which makes and sells a range of delicious chocolate, and the Brewery Arts Centre, which hosts a range of arts events, as well as showing the latest films.
